Artist Bio
Michelle Hanson is an artist who enjoys working in multiple mediums, including painting, photography, and video editing. Michelle was born and raised in Oklahoma City, OK, but has called Burlington, NC home since 2003. Between 2007 and 2018, She served in the US Navy as an Electronics Technician. In 2018, after completing her enlistment, she transitioned out of the US Navy to return to college to finish her bachelor's degree. She graduated from the University of North Carolina Greensboro in 2021 with a Bachelor of Arts in Studio Arts, where she studied painting, photography, and ceramics. Following graduation, Michelle was a stay-at-home mother to her three children for about eight months. She began working part-time gigs teaching acrylic painting classes at a community art studio to contribute to the family's income. As a painting instructor, she discovered she had a passion for teaching aspiring artists. In 2024, she returned to Greensboro College to pursue a licensure in K-12 Art Education.

SKILLS
2017 Participated in a one-day annual event, Clean the Bay, which entailed picking up litter around the Chesapeake Bay area Near Norfolk Naval Shipyard in Portsmouth, VA.
2016 Picked up and delivered food from the donating grocery stores (Food Lions) to the Food Bank of Virginia distribution site and assisted with unloading, sorting, and storing food pantry items once a week for about three months.
Operation Tomodachi (Friendship), conducted in 2011, involved assisting with moving emergency food and water supplies to Japanese survivors of the 2011 Tsunami.
2010 Participated in a Community relations project between CFAY and the city of Yokosuka, Japan, by cleaning up trash outside the Naval base.
2010 Community Relations Project with Hong Kong at St. Barnabus’s Shelter for the Homeless for one afternoon during a port visit.
